The Trusted Computing Project is for those who recognise that the existing approach to personal computing is broken and can not provide the public with secure computing that can be trusted.

Trusted computing requires systems that are verifiably secure. This means that:
  • the software on the client device must be designed to be secure and must be open to independent and public inspection;
  • client devices must be configured so that the integrity of the software can not be corrupted by the actions of users;
  • the integrity of the software on client devices must be must be verified to ensure it is free from spyware and other malware;
  • the management of client devices must allow only authorised administrators to update the software and system configuration;
  • when accessing e-services users must be able to prove their identity. This requires the use of some form of secure token together with pass phrase.
  • networks must be secure with all information encrypted to ensure confidentiality.
